Who Am I? I am the Assistant Director at the South Jersey Regional Library Cooperative (SJRLC), a multi-type consortium in New Jersey. One of my main duties is to provide continuing education opportunities to library staff in the 630+ libraries in the southern seven counties of New Jersey. I also help manage QandANJ, New Jersey's 24/7 virtual reference service. My ALA activities include a three year stint as Secretary for LearnRT, The Learning Round Table of ALA (formerly CLENE). I currently serve as webmaster and blogger for LearnRT. Locally, I've served as Chair of NJLA's Professional Development Committee. I currently serving on the Emerging Leaders Subcommittee. In 2006/2007 I had the honor and pleasure of serving as a mentor to the a team of emerging leaders (the "P" team, aka L.O.U.S.). In 2008-2009 I served as the ALA liaison to EL Team V. In 2007 I had the honor of serving as a Mentor for the Maryland Library Leadership Academy.

I am a graduate of the Leadership Institute at Snowbird ('98 and '01 -- yes twice, sorta) as well as the NJ Academy of Library Leadership. My ideas about leadership revolve around authenticity, honesty, and creating and environment of service, creative risk-taking, and collaboration. My outlook has been greatly informed by learning about personality types (especially Enneagram).

In addition to continuing education and staff development, I am very interested in customer service, customer experience (not the same thing...), usability, and the idea of "library as place". Sometimes I blab about these and other topics at my blog, Library Garden. You can see more on my homepage
